Gujarat – The city of Vadodara is grappling with an extraordinary crisis as torrential rain in Vadodara Gujrat continues to lash the region, causing the Vishwamitri River to overflow and flood large parts of the city.

The relentless torrential rain in Vadodara Gujrat has led to a series of rain-related incidents that have claimed 32 lives and displaced thousands, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting more rain in the coming days.

The torrential rain in Vadodara Gujrat with over 200 mm of rainfall recorded in a short span, the floodwaters have not only inundated homes and roads but have also brought unexpected visitorscrocodiles. Videos of these reptiles, some as large as 15 feet, invading residential areas have gone viral on social media.

The crocodiles have been spotted on roads, in parks, outside homes, and even atop flooded houses, causing widespread alarm among residents. You can see the crocodile in a home in the video which was viral in social media.

In one particularly startling incident, a crocodile was seen on the roof of a flooded house, while another made its way into the campus of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, prompting a rescue operation by the forest department.

Authorities have captured 10 crocodiles over the last five days, with two already released back into the wild. The remaining reptiles will be released once the river’s water level recedes.The situation in Vadodara is dire, with the city among the worst affected by the floods.

Electricity connections have been severely disrupted, leaving around 1,000 villages without power. In response to the disaster, local authorities have relocated more than 32,000 people from rain-hit areas and rescued around 1,200 individuals from flood-affected zones. As the city struggles to cope with the aftermath of the floods, the presence of these crocodiles has added a new layer of danger to an already critical situation.

The authorities are working tirelessly to manage both the floodwaters and the unexpected reptilian threat, but with more rain on the horizon, the residents of Vadodara face uncertain days ahead.
